Frequently Asked Questions

Who provides the micropigmentation treatments?

I’m Janette Archer, the practitioner providing scalp micropigmentation and SofTap permanent makeup. My scalp micropigmentation services include male density, female diffuse thinning, and shaved styles. During consultation, I review your medical history, medications, skin behavior, scar history, hair-loss pattern, expectations, and likely treatment plan.

What scalp micropigmentation services do you offer?

I offer male density SMP for thinning at the crown, temples, or across the top, female SMP for diffuse thinning around the part line, crown, and mid-scalp, and shaved SMP for a close-cropped appearance. I also provide SofTap permanent makeup as part of my permanent makeup services.

How do you create a natural-looking result?

I build density progressively, beginning with approximately 40 pigment impressions per square centimetre and typically reaching 80 to 100 by the final session. I use a finer 0.2 millimetre needle point for hairline borders and a slightly broader tip for the crown and vertex, adjusting tone and placement to your natural hair.

How many SMP sessions will I need?

Most clients require two to four SMP sessions spaced several weeks apart. Most women need two to three, while some clients with advanced hair loss or scarring alopecia may need four. The complete process, including healing and settling, takes approximately three to four months, and each session’s healed result is assessed around 30 days later.

What should I expect after treatment?

Some redness and mild swelling are normal during the first two days and usually settle within 48 to 72 hours. From day five, gentle washing with mild, fragrance-free shampoo is permitted, while direct sun should be avoided through day ten. From day ten, normal grooming can resume, with SPF 30 to 50 outdoors.

How long can my SMP results last?

Results vary with skin type, sun exposure, and aftercare. Some clients notice softening around three years, while others remain sharp at seven years. Oily skin and frequent sun exposure can accelerate fading. After healing, applying SPF 30 to 50 whenever your scalp is outdoors helps protect the result and may extend longevity.
